About the brand:

Plum is an Indian brand. It makes cruelty free products. Also, the products are free from parabens, phthalates, propylene glycol, SLS, and animal-derived ingredients. Plum has a whole Green tea range dedicated to oily, combi, acne-prone skin types. It has a cleanser, toner, and moisturizer for a complete C-T-M routine. And there is a separate range of products for people with dry skin types.
More face washes, moisturizers, and toners for oily and acne-prone skin.

Ingredient list:

Aqua (water), Aloe Barbadensis leaf juice, ammonium acryloyldimethyltaurate/vp copolymer, Argania Spinosa (Argan) oil, betaine, Camellia sinensis (green tea) leaf extract, fragrance, ci 19140, ci 42090, Glycolic acid, Ethylhexylglycerin, Glycyrrhiza glabra (licorice) root extract, Ginkgo Biloba leaf extract, Lycium barbarum (goji) fruit extract, phenoxyethanol, willow bark extract.

It has a clean ingredient list. The only questionable ingredient is "fragrance" which comes right after green tea extract. And is quite above in the ingredient list.

Key Ingredients:

  • Argan oil: Rich in essential fatty acids, or EFAs, which support the health and beauty of the skin and hair it is the perfect ingredient for regulating sebum production to keep the skin’s natural oils at a healthy level.
  • Green tea extract: A concentrated source of polyphenols and other antioxidants, to stop the acne formation cycle in its tracks. Oxidation of skin-produced sebum is a key step in acne formation – something we are looking to stop here.
  • Glycolic acid: Sweeps away skin debris and prepares the skin for self-renewal. Glycolic acid is an AHA, that gently exfoliates the skin.

Directions for use:

Gently wash your face and pat dry with a towel. Apply toner (if you use one) and follow it up with this night gel on your face and neck. Apply this in dots and massage gently until absorbed.

Product description:

From plum goodness website:
Tired of waking up every morning with greasy skin? Here's an award winning night cream to end all your morning oily skin woes. Its refreshing ultra-light gel texture is enriched with plant nutrients. With non-comedogenic ingredients like argan oil, you can rest assured that your skin will receive balanced hydration - minus the greasiness!

Claims:

  • Provides balanced hydration.
  • Ultra-light gel texture that pillow proof.
  • Lightens acne scars.
  • Clear, soft skin every morning.
  • Antioxidant green tea extracts help combat acne.
  • It's 100% vegan, paraben-free, phthalate-free, and cruelty-free.

Caution:

  • I didn't find any such cautions on the packaging. However, make sure to follow the basic cautions like:
  • Do a patch test for your own satisfaction.
  • Avoid contact with eyes. Keep away from direct sunlight.
  • Discontinue use if irritation occurs.

My experience with the product:

Packaging: The trial size product comes in a small white plastic tube packaging. The full-size product comes in a transparent tub with screw cap packaging.

Colour and texture: Plum Green tea Renewed clarity night gel is light green in color. It has a super light, non-greasy texture making it perfect for oily skin types.

Fragrance: The fragrance is very mild. Definitely not overpowering.

Skin type: Suits normal, oily, combination, and acne-prone skin types. I have an oily-combination skin type, it suits me well. Not suitable for dry skin types.

First impression: I was skeptical about this product, so got the trial size. When I used it for the first time, I was fine with the fragrance. I liked its lightweight gel texture, also the tiniest amount of product is enough compared to other products. Little goes a long way.

How long I have used it? I have used it for 2 weeks now (15 days). Only once a day as a part of the night routine.

How I like to use it? After cleansing and toning my face, I apply cosrx snail mucin essence and follow it up with this night gel only on my T-zone that tends to get very oily compared to my cheeks. I use Belif aqua bomb on the rest of my face as a moisturizer. (Cosrx snail mucin essence and Belif aqua bomb review coming soon, stay tuned)

Effect on my skin: Plum green tea night gel works amazingly for my T-zone, moisturizes well without making my skin greasy or shiny. A little goes a long way and dries out matte. I wake up in the morning without my T-zone looking grassy and shiny. It doesn't trigger fungal acne, if you can fungal acne, you can use this product without worries. I am not sure if it helps with acne scars as it claims but definitely helps combat acne. However, it is definitely not enough for the winters unless you have extremely oily skin. Our skin tends to get very dry and dehydrated during the winters and it is essential to a good moisturizer that provides enough hydration to the skin.

Will I repurchase it? No, for winters. Yes, for summers. I will definitely get a full-sized product in the summers.

Do I recommend it? I recommend it to people with oily, combination, and acne-prone skin. (not really for winters, unless you have extremely oily skin).

Conclusion:

  • Has super light and non-greasy texture. Feels like there's nothing on the skin.
  • Suits people with oily, combination, and acne-prone skin.
  • A big no people with dry skin types.
  • Doesn't trigger fungal acne.
  • Has fragrance but very mild.
  • Helps combat acne, not sure if it lightens scars.
  • Hydrates skin without making it oilier or greasy. Ideal for summers.
  • Doesn't provide enough hydration for winters.
  • Little goes a long way. (Spreads easily and gets absorbed easily)
  • Great night gel for people with oily and acne-prone skin.
